Noted recall: The goal is to describe, in just a few words, what the article is about. Additionally, if I think the article is particularly note-worthy (good or bad), I will comment on that. Compare this to a small sticky note, something to jog your memory about the contents of an article. Of course, if I miss the point of an article, or fail to find anything remarkable, that is entirely the fault of the reviewer.

Salvini Ascendant - Matteo Pucciarelli
(read 2019/08/27)
Bio and background of Salvini of Italy. This is a lengthy article, lots of recent history about political parties. Notable was use of social media; constantly visible; interacting with common people, political and non-political posts. That saying something to give the appearance of action was more important than sticking to realistic or congruent talking points. His popularity continues to grow since being elected, but his policies are grounded in reality; for example, not pursuing the anti-EU rhetoric he would mention while campaigning. The article never mentioned Trump, but seemed to draw parallels (if Trump wasn't a moron).

Digital Socialism? - Evgeny Morozov
(read 2019/08/29)
A lengthy article, I wish the scope were a bit narrower because there was good content in here. A lot of time spent criticising people writing about the end of capitalism via the rise of some kind of data-capitalism. Lots of criticisms about people not understanding Hayek's pricing discovery model. But throughout is discussion of modern price discovery methods and the availability of that data. Some slight discussion on social aspects and ownership of that pricing data and discovery data.

The French Insurgency - Stathis Kouvelakis
(read 2019/09/02)
Article about the Gilets Jaunes movement in France. A little bit of political context; dropping the wealth tax, and raising taxes on fuel. Demands of the movement; resistance to anti-immigrant claims, though a majority of the protestors seem to harbor anti-immigrant sentiments. Some background on the organization of the movement, or at least, a look at some particular locations. That most of the people are suspicious of social media.
