Noted recall: The goal is to describe, in just a few words, what the article is about. Additionally, if I think the article is particularly note-worthy (good or bad), I will comment on that. Compare this to a small sticky note, something to jog your memory about the contents of an article. Of course, if I miss the point of an article, or fail to find anything remarkable, that is entirely the fault of the reviewer.

Searching for Alternatives in Eastern Europe - Tamás Krausz interviewed by Róbert Nárai
(read 2019/04/12)
This covers a lot of history of leftist movements in Eastern Europe and nearby countries, though this article is primarily about Hungary. A lot of discussion about political parties; how even the more left, social democratic parties are intertwined with capitalism. The need for the working class to be involved with a socialist movement. That democracy is not necessarily dependent on capitalism.

Crisis Management in South Korea and the Hegemonic Strategy of the Chaebols - Kyung-Pil Kim
(read 2019/04/14)
Detailed article about chaebols in South Korea, a kind of business in which the family owner is also upper management and responsible for leadership; specifically the largest (international) corporations. Some history, talk of government/military support that made these businesses possible. Lots of discussion of public relations, and how these companies are starting to work with university groups and publishing books to focus on the positive aspects these businesses bring to society; and arguing against labor rights in the name of corporate interest.

Germany's Hidden Social Crisis - Victor Grossman
(read 2019/04/14)
This is a book review, it covers German history and the review focuses on the social/political aspects (left and right parties and workers rights). I want to point out some parallels to the US; that is, the rise of nationalism (AfD) that are mentioned.

Read Revolting Prostitutes: Your Socialism Depends on It - Brit Schulte
(read 2019/04/14)
Not quite a book review of Revolting Prostitutes. Discusses labor rights of sex workers, touches on incarceration, and feminism. The whole article is worth reading, but the key insight is that sex workers are often stigmatized and should be included in labor movement discussion.
