Noted recall: The goal is to describe, in just a few words, what the article is about. Additionally, if I think the article is particularly note-worthy (good or bad), I will comment on that. Compare this to a small sticky note, something to jog your memory about the contents of an article. Of course, if I miss the point of an article, or fail to find anything remarkable, that is entirely the fault of the reviewer.

Puerto Rico: Economic Reconstruction, Debt Cancellation, and Self-determination - Rafael Bernabe
(read 2019/02/19)
Short article on Puerto Rico, focused on economy and living conditions. Median wages are lower than any state in US; unemployment around 10%; many fewer jobs than two decades ago (manufacturing was an important sector of economy). Lower corporate taxes to encourage capital, but lots of capital outflow from Puerto Rico to the United States. Negative economic growth since 2010. Crumbling infrastructure, since destroyed by hurricane Maria, but still on the hook for debt payments. Limited options to address debt or make financial decisions as Puerto Rico is under federal law and governed by Congress, but not a state.

South African Student Protests, 1968 to 2016 - Heike Becker
(read 2019/02/19)
A look back at South Africa in the 60's and 70's. Particular focus on student activism, SASO organization. Protests against apartheid; start of movements on campus, but grew to more general political movements until government oppression (and assassination) in the 70's. (There's more historical detail in the article that makes this worth reading).

Black Power at the Point of Production, 1968-73 - Lee Sustar
(read 2019/02/21)
This is a good article on Black labor activism in the time period specified. Specific focus on Postal worker's strike of 1970. Not much more to say, this is a narrow topic with good depth.
